The Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy is for patients who have had Physiotherapy +/- injections for these conditions, and their symptoms are persisting. This therapy is to try and avoid surgical intervention.
It is carried out at the Groves, under the Clinical Supervision of Dr Naz Jivani (Sports Physician) and Mr P Ramesh (Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon).
It consists of 3 sessions, one week apart. There is evidence that it can help up to 70% of these patients, and help them avoid surgery.
